CCTV Visited Westerto Discuss Corporate Social Responsibility

Recently, CCTV's "Society and Law" program team visited Wester Elevator Company with China's reform and opening up as the background, to learn about Wester's rapid changes in the era of reform and development and the social responsibilities that come with it.

Mr. Li Tele, assistant to the chairman of Chongqing Wester Elevator Co., Ltd., received the column team and explained the company's development history and current situation in detail, and accepted an interview with the column team.

Reporter: What do you think is the social responsibility of an enterprise?

Mr. Li: In the course of more than 20 years of development, Wester Elevator has assumed three responsibilities to the society. The first is the responsibility to consumers, which requires us to strictly control product quality and safety, and provide consumers with affordable, safe, comfortable, durable elevators and timely and efficient after-sales services. The second is the responsibility to employees. We have established a humane management mechanism and corporate culture, provided a comfortable working environment, and led employees with clear goals to invest in the development of the company, grow with the company, and reflect their own value in the company. The third is the responsibility to society. Our responsibility to society continues to improve and expand with the development of the company. We continue to improve research and development, produce more energy-saving products, reduce resource and energy consumption, and pay attention to environmental protection; we also continue to carry out and participate in public welfare activities to contribute to the society.

Reporter: In the 40 years since the reform and opening up, how have enterprises reflected their social responsibilities?

Mr. Li: While focusing on the development of the company itself, Wester Elevator has actively assumed social responsibilities. We are enthusiastic about sponsoring cultural and sports undertakings, popularizing knowledge about safe elevator riding to the public, donating to Hope Primary Schools, visiting nursing homes and needy families in the community, etc. Especially in theretrofitting of old residential elevators in Chongqing in recent years, Wester has adhered to the sense of responsibility of "serving the people and giving back to the society" and successfully completed the retrofitting of more than 800 old residential elevators with full advance payment under the premise of almost zero profit. The retrofitting number is the first, the people's satisfaction is the first, which has been unanimously affirmed by the people, governments at all levels and all sectors of society. The achievements made are inseparable from the good business environment created by the party and the government, and even more inseparable from the care and guidance of leaders at all levels. Reporter: How would you briefly summarize the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up and look forward to the future in a few words?

Mr. Li: The establishment, growth and success of Wester Elevator can be said to be riding the wave of reform and opening up, enjoying the convenience and opportunities brought by reform and opening up. Looking to the future, we believe that the pace of reform and opening up will be faster, and the development of our company will enter a new stage. We will be committed to the development and application of smart elevators including elevator Internet of Things and intelligent identification, to meet the people's growing demand for a better life and contribute more to society.
